Data Center Sustainability Requires your “A-game”
Demand for data center capacity is exploding, with no end in sight. Capacity must be delivered, but not at the expense of good results. An athlete may rush into a competition without proper preparation and end up performing below expectations. Bringing your A-game to the competition requires a well-thought-out plan and preparation. Bringing your A-game in data centers means delivering a highly sustainable design, build process, and operation. Yet, a standard sustainability scorecard for data centers does not exist. We, at Schneider Electric responded by defining and creating metrics for data center sustainability, filling a void while providing a clear path forward regardless of where your company is in its sustainability journey. This presentation covers all facets of data center sustainability, lays out a plan and its preparation. It will also pay particular attention to Scope 1 carbon emissions, which are dominated by diesel generators, and share exciting alternatives including the possibility of generating your own sustainable power on-site. With customers, shareholders, and the public driving a mandate for a sustainable industry, it’s time to bring your A-game. Let’s do it!
