The GGW/AGW glycol protector is a collection and retention system for refrigeration and air conditioning systems and prevents oils and water-glycol mixtures from being flushed out by rain, for example. It is therefore a safety system that collects oils and water-glycol mixtures in an environmentally friendly manner.

As an extension of the oil protector, the GGW/AGW glycol protector is TÜV-certified and filters light liquids and retains other water-soluble substances in accordance with legal requirements for water hazard classes one to three (WGK1-WGK3). The GGW/AGW glycol protector serves to protect our most valuable resource, water.

With the GGW/AGW glycol protector, you cover the legal framework for the protection of water when handling refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Function of the GGW/AGW glycol protector
The system uses a modern digital pressure sensor to monitor the water-glycol circuit. The information supplied is analysed and processed by the control module with the aid of a microprocessor. In the event of a light liquid leak, the drain valve is closed and an alarm contact is activated to retain these liquids. The alarm output is shown in plain text on the microprocessor display. In this way, the system recognises leaks in the system and can distinguish between them in order to alert the operator.

In addition, the system is designed as a safety chain which automatically closes and locks the drain valves and activates an alarm contact in accordance with the general requirements in the event of a power failure, cable break, microprocessor defect, defective valve control or sensor defect in order to offer the greatest possible safety in the event of a fault in the system.

Characteristics of the GGW/AGW glycol protector
The GGW/AGW glycol protector is made of stainless steel 1.4301 and has a material thickness of 1.5 mm and is manufactured in accordance with EN ISO 9445. The stainless steel elements are then pickled over their entire surface for corrosion protection. Welding is carried out in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9606-1.

The applicable temperature range is between -30°C and +50°C. In addition, the drain valves are designed for outdoor use and equipped with potential-free contacts for operating messages and alarm messages. The control box is also IP65 protected and UV-resistant.

The GGW/AGW glycol protector is particularly suitable for recoolers and cold water systems in outdoor areas, which do not cause water contamination even in the event of leaks. Even heavy precipitation is collected and drained off.

Certificates and requirements of the GGW/AGW glycol protector
The suitability of the system has been verified by TÜV Rheinland. Furthermore, the GGW/AGW glycol protector fulfils the requirements of the Water Resources Act in accordance with § 62g ff. WHG and the AwSV (Plant Ordinance).
