How to Optimize the Cooling Performance of a Data Center Using CFD

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a powerful tool for identifying and resolving the cooling problems in data centers and for optimizing their cooling performance. This presentation will introduce the CFD technique and demonstrate how CFD can be used to calculate and depict air velocity, airflow rate, pressure, and temperature distribution in data centers. The effect of various parameters on the airflow, pressure, and temperature in the data center will be discussed. A number of case studies will be shown, through which common cooling problems in data centers will be presented and the solutions to these problems, will be discussed. These solutions includes but not limited to cold aisle and hot aisle containments. The proper audience for this presentation includes Data Center Owners, Facility Managers, Data Center Managers, IT Managers, Design Engineers, Consulting Engineers, Data Center Service Providers, Manufacturers of Cooling Equipment, Containments, Cabinets, and Perforated Tiles.
